Your business card might say ‘Real Estate Agent’, but that’s only part of the story. You work for S.C.A.R.E. (Supernatural Consultancy And Real Estate) a quirky agency that specialises in haunted properties. One day you’re sent to inspect a dilapidated and abandoned toy shop. Tucked down an alleyway in the old part of town, the shop has been empty for over 70 years. Lately, however, strange noises and lights have been reported coming from inside. It’s your job to venture in and discover the truth. Is it really haunted? Why is it locked up? And what happened to the owner, Mr Pepper?

This was my fiftieth room, and I am so glad I travelled interstate to experience ‘Mr Pepper’s Toy Shop’. The props, set design and storyline provided a rich foundation to the experience, allowing the puzzles to propel you along to the terrifying conclusion of the room. It was incredible — there’s a reason this room ranks so highly.

Easily one of my face escape rooms of all time! The way it was designed was incredible, and the fear factor really adds to the theme and excitement. I cannot recommend this room enough.

Believe the hype! The atmosphere and theatrics were phenomenal! The puzzles were intuitive but not too easy. Highly recommend! Just make sure you have someone to cling to if you're a jumper 😉

The Cipher Room continues to pump out absolute bangers and Mr Pepper’s is no exception. With challenging puzzles and an amazing amazing amazing set design we were fully immersed from the beginning. One of the craziest and also most satisfying ends I’ve seen in any escape room, we left absolutely awestruck. Our Game Master Frank was a joy and allowed us to replay the ending after one of our team members was too scared and missed it which was very kind. A MUST if you’re playing rooms in Sydney.

All I can say with this one is believe the hype. Having played 15 of Sydney’s best escape rooms across a few days, I can confidently say Mr Pepper’s comfortably sits at the top of the pile. A ridiculous room in terms of design and creativity, it’s filled with spooky rustic props, tech and puzzles all designed perfectly to fit the world around you. The level of time and care that’s gone into creating this masterpiece is evident with every single puzzle you solve and story element you uncover. Not to mention one of (if not) the best endings to a room I’ve ever seen. 11/10. Our Game Master Frank was lovely and was even kind enough to show us the room’s insane grand finale twice. Cipher’s new room can’t come quick enough.

My first escape room in Australia after doing games in other countries. Cipher's best asset is by far it's set design! Right from the waiting room you can tell the owners have great attention for detail. We did Mr Pepper's first and it was a decent game with a few fun surprises and great immersion! Lots of interactive puzzles as well as regular lock and key combos. I can see what all the hype is about. It would be a room most people should enjoy!
