“A fun spooky game that was filled with a lot of interesting puzzles. There was a couple of elements that weren’t necessarily my jam but overall it was a fun experience. Birdie was a great game master! And we were super excited to learn we beat the record for the fastest escape time!”

“Really fun room. Puzzles were fun and combo of mechanical and keypad style. Great atmosphere. Murder mystery; does not follow the Agatha Christie story. Still, fun story, good gameplay. Decent challenge. Best room they have (of the 4 we've done).”

“Candy Cane Conundrum is an escape room that will just have you smiling from start to finish. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, you are guaranteed to get into the Christmas spirit by the end of this experience. As for the puzzles, most are straightforward but it does help to have another set of eyes or ears. We did this room with 2 people but I think 3-4 could be a good number as well if you’re going for record-breaking time. Some puzzles are mechanical and some may require physical agility aka crawling or climbing up the stairs. There are accommodations if you find the physical aspect to be a little too much. We didn’t get a chance to do the other rooms in this location but we would have done more if time allowed! Our game master brought all the energy and we appreciate her! Parking is not the easiest during the busy times but if you go one street over, you might be able to snag a spot.”

“In Search Of an Exit always executes. I have so many positive things to say, but let’s start with Patrick. Patrick is clearly passionate about escape games and seeing folks enjoy his creations. He’s full of positive energy and truly adds to the overall experience. Now, Operation Gryaznayavoda was such a wonderful game. The puzzles are cleverly designed, even offering some unique puzzle styles that I’ve never done before. Our group was 4 people and that felt like the perfect size. I’d say 5 at most, but no less than 3 and this room will feel challenging and everyone will have something to do. I highly recommend this room if you’re in Portland, the vibes alone are worth it.”

“This was one of the best single-room games I have played. The set is very unassuming, in an apartment, but is an amazing use of the space with more than it meets the eye. The puzzles were unique and memorable. I recommend this game”

“Scooby-Doo is an absolute blast. The set, puzzles, and story are just perfectly tied to the theme. Everything is so much fun, and the hint/clue system is my favorite I've ever had in an escape room. It's the room I try to have everyone experience at least once.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
